আৰক্ষী বাহিনীত কুইয়াৰ সম্প্ৰদায়ক অন্তৰ্ভুক্ত কৰাৰ দিশত এখোজ আগবঢ়াই বেংগালুৰু হ’ব দেশৰ প্ৰথম চহৰসমূহৰ ভিতৰত অন্যতম যিয়ে সমকামী বা ট্ৰেন্সজেণ্ডাৰ পুৰুষক আৰক্ষী বিভাগত সক্ৰিয়ভাৱে নিযুক্তি দিব।  ১১ জানুৱাৰীত বেংগালুৰু চহৰ আৰক্ষীয়ে এক বিবৃতি প্ৰকাশ কৰি কয় যে বিভাগটোৱে ৩০৬৪টা পদ পূৰণ কৰিব, আৰু যিকোনো ‘পুৰুষ/তৃতীয় লিংগ পুৰুষ’ই যোগ্যতা পূৰণ কৰিলে আবেদন কৰিব পাৰিব।

 ২০২২ চনত কৰ্ণাটক চৰকাৰে আৰক্ষী বাহিনীত হিজড়াৰ বাবে পদ সংৰক্ষিত কৰাৰ কথা ঘোষণা কৰিছিল, এই কাম কৰা প্ৰথমখন ৰাজ্য হ'ব।

Taking a step towards inclusiveness of queer community in the police force, Bengaluru will be one of the first cities in the country to actively recruit transgender males to the police department. On January 11, Bengaluru city police released a statement which said the department shall fill 3,064 posts, and any ‘Male/Third Gender Male’ can apply if they meet the eligibility.

In 2022, the Karnataka government announced it is reserving posts for transgender people in police forces, the first state to do so.

তেতিয়াৰ গৃহমন্ত্ৰীগৰাকীয়ে কৈছিল যে ৩৪৮৪টা কনিষ্টবল পদৰ ভিতৰত ৭৯টা ট্ৰেন্স লোকৰ বাবে আবেদন কৰিবলৈ সংৰক্ষিত।  হিজড়া/ ট্ৰেন্সজেণ্ডাৰ অধিকাৰ কৰ্মীসকলে এই পদক্ষেপক আদৰণি জনোৱা বুলি কয় যদিও আভ্যন্তৰীণ হাৰাশাস্তিৰ সম্ভাৱনা আৰু আৰক্ষী কৰ্মীসকলৰ মাজত সজাগতাৰ অভাৱৰ কথা উল্লেখ কৰি সন্দেহ প্ৰকাশ কৰে।

 “দুবছৰৰ আগতে তেওঁলোকে ট্ৰেন্স লোকৰ বাবে আৰক্ষী বিভাগত এক শতাংশ সংৰক্ষণৰ কথা ঘোষণা কৰিছিল;  মই তিনিজন মানুহক চিনি পাওঁ যিয়ে আবেদন কৰিছিল।  আমি জানিব পাৰিলোঁ যে কোন ট্ৰেন্স পুৰুষ নে ট্ৰেন্স মহিলা সেই পৰিচয়ক লৈ বহুত বিভ্ৰান্তিৰ সৃষ্টি হৈছিল।  আৰক্ষীয়ে বেংক একাউণ্টৰ সবিশেষ, আৰু পৰিয়ালৰ ইতিহাসৰ দৰে কেইবাটাও নথি দাবী কৰিছিল;  কাৰণ জনসাধাৰণসকল প্ৰান্তীয় আৰু দুৰ্বল সম্প্ৰদায়ৰ আছিল তেওঁলোকৰ প্ৰতিষ্ঠানৰ সুবিধা নাছিল বা জীৱন নিৰ্বাহৰ বাবে সংগ্ৰাম কৰি আছিল।  তেওঁলোকে বিবিএমপিৰ কাৰ্যালয় আৰু অন্যান্য কৰ্তৃপক্ষ পৰিদৰ্শন কৰে;  কিন্তু অৱশেষত কামবোৰ ঠিক নহ’ল৷

The then home minister had said that out of the 3,484 constable posts, 79 were reserved for trans people to apply. Transgender rights activists said they welcome the step, but expressed their scepticism citing chances of internal harassment and lack of awareness among the police personnel.

“Two years ago they announced one percent reservation in police dept for trans people; I know three people who applied. We got to know there was a lot of confusion about the identity of who is a trans man or trans woman. Police demanded several documents like bank account details, and family history; because the people were from marginalised and vulnerable communities they didn’t have access to institutions or were struggling to make ends meet. They visited the BBMP offices and other authorities; but finally the jobs didn’t work out.

Instances like this discourage people from applying,” said Uma, trans woman, Jeeva (NGO).
